Short Breaks Respite Showcase Event

UET Short Breaks Respite Event 14 10.21

UET hosted an event today at their Shaw Farm building to showcase the respite care provided for over 70 children and young people living within Swindon and the surrounding areas.

Mayor Garry Perkins, MP Robert Buckland, William Wyldbore-Smith, local businesses, Swindon Borough Council and local charities attended the event to learn more about the respite care on offer, meet the young people who benefit from the setting and tour the facilities.

The young people from UET Skills for Work provided handmade crafts for the goodie bags and home made cakes, served alongside refreshment kindly donated by Aldi.

The aim of the event was to highlight the need for improvement to the building and the grounds to provide a much needed de-escalation space, a sensory room and play equipment for the gardens.

We would like to thank everyone for attending and showing such interest in our organisation and an even bigger thank you to the young people from UET who were brilliant ambassadors as always.

We were delighted that Jackie was live on the Marie Lennon show on BBC Radio Wiltshire to promote the event  and you can listen to the interview by following the link below. (Jackie is on at 1.38 if you want to skip to that part).
