Skills for Life

About Us

Skills for Life was launched in 2014 at our Community Enterprise Centre in Penhill. We moved next to Upper Shaw Ridge Farm on a temporary basis in 2020, and from July 2022, found our new home at Stratton Road.

We support young adults with additional and often very complex needs, to experience daily life to the fullest, socialise with their friends, learn new skills, explore the community and have their voices heard. We promote independence and expression of choice in all we do, tailoring activities to each individual and always working to keep each day fresh and exciting! We centre our in house activities around all things sensory, including crafting, baking, exploring, creating and often getting thoroughly messy! Our sensory experiences have recently been levelled up by the incredible addition of our new Sensory Room too, thanks to Open Works! Our young people regularly access the wider community too, and enjoy experiences like trampolining, inclusive cycling, soft play, our UET farm, cafes, parks and walks in the sunshine.
